Students
The Fulbright US Student Program offers a chance of a lifetime to spend a year studying, researching, or teaching abroad while building cultural bridges between the US and your host country. Although it is never too early to consider the Fulbright, the program is open to:
- Graduating seniors
- Graduate students
- Alumni
There are two main awards:
- The Study/Research award, which funds graduate study or research in the host country
- The English Teaching Assistant (ETA) award, where grantees work as an English teaching assistant
You can apply for one award to one country.
Central to all Fulbright awards is the pursuit of cultural exchange, where grantees pursue mutual understanding between the US and the host country by sharing their experiences of US culture and are receptive to their host country’s culture. Funded by the US Department of State, the Fulbright awards offer a kind of soft diplomacy, building cultural bridges between the US and countries around the world.
Baylor students have had great success winning Fulbright awards over the years, with 25 winners in the last two years alone. We were recently named a Fulbright Top Producing Institution. The Fulbright has launched these students toward all manner of future ambitions—in medicine, law, public service, or a wide variety of other fields.
Are you inquisitive, adaptable, and flexible? Do you enjoy the adventure of living abroad? Are you eager to share about your culture and experience while learning from others'?
If so, the Fulbright might be right for you. Baylor's Office of Engaged Learning, which houses our four Fulbright Program Advisors, is here to help you with every step of the process. Please read through the Application Timeline and How to Begin sections on the left see when you might apply and for the next steps.
